The person behind the software

Hi — I'm Amanda Yonce, a software engineer based in South Carolina. I've spent ten years building software professionally, on both sides of the craft: engineering, so things work reliably, and product design, so they make sense the moment you open them. Second Nature Software is my one-person consultancy.

That combination matters more than it might sound. Plenty of software technically works but fights you every step. Because I design and build, the tools I make fit the way your day actually runs — which is the whole point of custom software.

I started it because of something I kept seeing: the software industry ignores small businesses. The big vendors sell you a generic tool built for somebody else, charge you monthly forever, and route your questions to a call center. Custom development shops quote prices that only make sense for corporations. So the HVAC company, the stable, the small law office, the restaurant — the businesses that actually hold towns together — end up running on paper, spreadsheets, and late nights.

I think those businesses deserve software built for how they actually work, at a price a small business can justify, from a person they can call.

Working with me is deliberately simple: you talk to the person who builds your software. The one who answered the first phone call is the one writing the code, the one training your staff, and the one you call when something needs fixing. Nothing gets lost in translation because there's nobody to translate through.

I work with small businesses anywhere, but South Carolina is where I'm closest — Columbia, Lexington, Camden and Kershaw County, Sumter, Florence, and the towns between them.
